Awesome show, wish some of y'all had of been there. Maybe next time. The Thomas Wolfe is a great place for JP. It was a packed house, although not sold out, much to my surprise. Love and hugs from TN P.S. Sorry for rambling. I bought 3 CD's (already gave them away, except for my copy) a shirt and a hat. Whew, was thrilled to get the new CD! Love all of it.

I just got back from the Asheville show last night. I first saw John in N.Y.C. in 1972 at a club long since gone called the Bitter End. That first show was a revelation and each of 50 odd shows I have seen since, including last nights, continue that tradition. From the opening chords of Spanish Pipedream to the final encore of Paradise (with R.B. Morris) the show was classic Prine. He rolled out some old chestnuts, a rousing version of Flag Decal to a slowed version of Sweet Revenge including versions of the classics Mexican Home and Angel from Montgomery both of which still send chills up my spine (or is that down my spine, I dunno). From the new cd he played Glory of True Love, Crazy as a Loon, Long Monday, Taking a Walk, Some Humans Ain't Human, She is My Everything and as a tribute to Johnny and June Cash, Bear Creek Blues. The show was great and all of you that have tickets for upcoming shows - your anticipation will be well rewarded. I played Fair and Square all the way home (Charlotte N.C.) this morning and it is chuck full of newly minted Prine classics. Besides the aforementioned new tunes played at the show the bonus live version of Other Side of Town is John at his best.

We saw John last week in Asheville, NC - the start of his new tour. Bought a copy of his new CD "Fair and Square". The concert was wonderful and the CD is a 'must-have' for John Prine fans. He gets better with age.

John Prine is back for show at Wolfe By April 7, 2005 12:37 p.m.
Singer-songwriter John Prine plays Friday night at Wolfe Auditorium.
It's been a while since the great singer-songwriter John Prine played Asheville - but he's back this weekend for a date at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. And for his many loving fans, it's reason to celebrate.
...CITIZEN-TIMES: "You've been the voice of `everyman' for so long but where have you been?
PRINE: "I've been on the road, we never quit that. I`ve been raising a family, I have a couple boys that are 9 and 10. They were born about the time that last record came out. I was 49 when I had my first child. Raising a family is really great, I love it but I have to set aside time to do everything, write a song or record. You get busy and before you know it nine years have gone by.
Q: "I put the new record in last night and started listening and just started to smile because it was so John Prine again."
A: "Oh, I'm glad; I produced it, with my engineer Gary Paczoza. I wanted a good sound that was like me." read more -http://orig.citizen-times.com/cache/article/take5_music/74291.shtml
