:) I am not listening to anything. I have had this song in my head all morning.

I'll be home for Christmas - you can count on me
I'll be home for Christmas - if only in my dreams

Dreams do come true. I met John Prine, David Jacques, and Jason Wilber!

It was christmas. I was not in prison, I had no turkey. Only a silver sharpie to which John Prine signed my Prine Hatch Print!

'Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If you're young at heart' - that's what your post made me think of! My mom used to play that over and over, and we'd just sing our hearts out along with it. I still remember every word to that song - can't remember where I put the stamps this morning - but I still have every word in my head? Ha!

John Denver - "Sunshine On My Shoulders"

It was actually the theme to my senior prom - which NOBODY asked me to!

Do I recall John Denver covered Paradise, but left off the last verse?!?!?!

You are correct, RS. I never heard the "When I die let my ashes float down the Green River.." stanza until I heard John's version.

John Fogerty covers Paradise on his new album. I heard it last week on Sirius. Not bad either, but right now Im listening to both Gram Parsons solo albums.

I know that John Denver covered Paradise and left off the last verse. Not right! Shoot, I said that already!

Oh, that is OK RS - I have never heard John Denver sing Paradise - I was not really a John Denver fan. John Fogerty, I am. Florida John, I am - and of course, John Prine and John Lennon.

Today, you will never believe what I am listening to...Paper Roses.

JPP - how does a Canadian girl make a 'John's list' and forget to put 'long-john's' on it?

Long Johns? Is this a song? Guess so. My brother and I always got Long Johns (underwear) for Christmas from Aunt Clara. God stuff Aunt Clara!

I'm still on Bruce Springsteen - Radio Nowhere (is there anybody alive out there)...

Did you hear Bruce recently said...

'Hello Ohio' - he forgot he was at the Palace of Auburn Hills, MICHIGAN!

oh bruce

I'm listening to Ray LaMontagne, David Gray, and Tom Waits today - cleaning my fridge and getting rid of the UFT's. (unrecognizable fuzzy things)

Rs - You might have been thinking of Long John Baldry - but I was referring to 'Long-John's, Aunt Clara style', too.

Ditto on the big game wishes - good luck!

I got to see Long John Baldry once, about 1971/1972. His final years were in Canada. Did you catch him up there SE? What great voice! I should go get the album I once had, but as a CD, Everything Stops for Tea.

I never did have the pleasure of seeing him - but listening to him was a pleasure, too. I think he did die in Canada - out west somewhere. (maybe BC?)

If I remember correctly (which is always a crap shoot) 'Everything Stops for Tea' was one of Knik's favorites, too.

I was listening to K-PIG and apparently there is a group called "The ******* Sons Of Johnny Cash"?

They did "Long Black Veil" - pretty good, too.

I was driving around yesterday listening to the 'Outlaw Country' station on XM, and all of a sudden I was listening to Lake Marie! What a pleasant surprise!

One of my kids had messed with the stations, so while I was trying to find 'The Loft' and the 'Coffee House' again I discovered 'Outlaw Country' quite by accident. I agree with you Chad - I've been listening to it a lot since - really enjoy it!

CC - it's a real blend of some great country/folk/crossover music - without the 'bubblegum country' that gets on typical country stations.

Sounds nice. A welcome relief from the commercial country station that is ALWAYS on in my office. K-PIG has a similar mix that I enjoy when the office mate is out.

You can only listen to "Toes" and "Chicken Fry" so many times in one day!

Here in a week or two you will notice Outlaw Country throwin out a Christmas tune now and then. The first time I ever heard John Prine singing "I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus" was on that station. You can also here John Prine on The Bridge station rather often, I have a hour drive to and from work so I have plenty of time to figure which stations are down with the Prine

This weekend I was doing some Christmas shopping at "Half Priced Books" - a re-sale store if you are not familiar. I picked up a John Denver CD. Farewell Andromeda - 1973. I was instantly transported back into high school - remembering every word of that album I used to play over and over again. That was where I first heard "Angel From Montgomery" by somebody named J. Prine.

David Gray - I play him a lot lately - he's finally getting the attention he deserves from this side of the pond. In fact - he was on the Rachael Ray show this morning - blew me away! Catch it if you can!

Malcolm Holcombe-For The Mission Baby

Going to another Malcolm show Thursday night in "My Darling Hometown" of Boone, NC. Looking forward to it, one of my favorite musicians in my favorite town, and meeting up with some old friends from my High School days down there. I guess you could say this is an early Christmas present

Hey Chad - I'm meeting up with friends I grew up with tomorrow night in our 'Darling Hometown', too. We're not traveling though - we still live here. We aren't seeing a show either (DANG!) - but we always end up putting one on for each other by the end of the night - thanks (or not!) to karaoke! It is like an early Christmas present - a gift that'll last all year...or 'til the next time - kinda in the same spirit as 'the kiss that'll last all week'. Have a great time!
