I know we've gone down similar paths in the past. But thought it might be fun to develop an all- inclusive list of musicians we've seen and heard that were incredibly talented and equally underated. People we would elect to this Obscure Hall of Fame....Score 1 point for each one you've heard....winner gets a red stang AND a trip to Hawaii, Heck, we'll even throw in the diamond earrings, you just'll have to dig em out of the theater of the mind closet.
Rules: Have to be musicians, have to have played in more than 3 states.

Ok...my game my rules. Let's break the first one because it's not a musician, but surely helped the cause...

1. Beaker Street
2. Vinegar Joe
3. Lou Hyde
4. John Hartford
5. John Long
6. Brian Bowers

keep adding names.... I have 6 points!

John Sebastion
Canned Heat
John Mayal
Bob Rogness

**Maybe not obscure, but not so well known. Some did have their moments in the sun.

Add to that:

Knik, if you're ever in Santa Monica, stop by the Wine Expo and tell Bob 'Roberto' Rogness he got listed as an obscure musician. And you can tell him it was FUBAR who listed him. We're old Army buddies.

Not too sure who this is supposed to include - just any one we've seen - groups...or just individuals? What qualifies making the list here?

FUBAR? Well, I obtained that nickname in the Army, about 1976. Think of 'That 70s Show', except in Olive Drab uniforms over in Germany. I'll leave the rest to your imagination...

The Bee Gees - Meatloaf - Dan Hill - Elvis Costello - Bob Dylan - Bachman Turner Overdrive - John Hiatt - EmilyLou Harris - Lyle Lovett - Kitty Wells - Steve Earle - The Neville Brothers - Iris Dement - Allison Moorer - Joe Ely - Leonard Coen - Guy Clark - Dixie Chicks - Neil Diamond - Hayes Carll - Dan Reeder - Lucinda Williams - Ray La Montange - Jason Wilbur - Levon Helm - Sara Watkins - and after this coming weekend, David Gray.

That was a bit of a trip going back all those years and trying to remember who I saw. I bet Chad has seen more than all of us put together, though - even with less years under his belt!

Speaking of, I just talked to Emmy Lou Harris this morning! In person! I was able to show her a picture I took of her at Red Rocks in June of '08.

That's neat! Did you just happen to have a picture with you or did you know you were going to bump into her ahead of time?

No picture, just showed her the picture. I told her when I saw her in the lobby of the hotel in Denver with her two rescue dogs, that she had been very nice to me, even though she was very ill. And then I showed her the pic of me and John Prine in Vancouver, and that brought a smile to her face.

Compared to all the rest of you, my list is so freakin' short! I am very John Prine-centric.

John Hartford
Jeffrey Foucault
Jason Wilber
Tim Grimm
Iris Dement
Sarah Watkins

That's about all I can think of right now.

My list is obscure or I am? Either way, thank you! Hey, it's Halloween weekend. Me and the Rocking Zombie are going to Happy Hour.

"I'll have a beer and my friend the Rickin' Zombie will have a shot of Jagemeister!"

Wanna see him?
