REVIEWS OF THE
JOHN PRINE IN '99 CONCERT TOUR 1999
NEVADA SHOWS
HOUSE OF BLUES, LAS VEGAS JUNE 3,
1999
- FROM:tobbob We
had the pleasure of seeing John at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. He was fantastic. The
House of Blues could have been a little warmer. We had hard seats on the floor (4 rows
back) and would have had to strain our necks to look up to see the show. We retreated to
the balcony where the seats were much softer, the view was better, but I think they were
blowing cold air in from the Artic! It did make people rush to the gift shop to buy socks
and sweatshirts! He did all the old songs that we know by " heart" and sang
along with him. Later that night I recognized one of his fans (that had been sitting in
the front row) at the Luxor (the casino nextdoor to the Mandalay bay). His name was
"Kentucky Dave". He had gotten John to sign a picture of the two of them from
the last time he was in Vegas at the Hard Rock. Dave was really wanting to talk about the
show, but the time was @ 3:00 am, he could barely stand, let alone speak. None the less he
was still on "cloud nine". A true Prine fan he was! I'm sure he was celebrating
the "WONDERFUL" show.
- FROM:Randall & Beth Edgeman, Midland Texas The Wife
and myself caught Prine at the House of Blues venue in the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las
Vegas. I have been a fan for many years, but the blushing bride had never heard of him.
All that has changed as of last night! As I am typing this the Wife is listening to
"The Missing Years" with a fire burning, burning right behind her eyes....
Although, we thoroughly enjoyed John's performance we were not at all happy with the set
up at the "House of Blues". Apparently, they attempted to emulate a big airline
by double booking all of the seats down on the 1st level. After getting bumped out of our
seats twice we retreated to the balcony to try and salvage our "Prine Time"
PIONEER CENTER, RENO MAY 31, 1999
- FROM: Jessica
I had such a good time at the Reno show. My dad and I had front row seats. It was amazing.
Did you go to that show? It was wonderful. It was so nice to see John Prine again. He did
look a little worn out, and understandably so....but sounded great. I live in the SF bay
area and want to badly to go to the Guiness fest on Saturday but have a wedding to go to
in Reno. I may just back out of the wedding! I've been looking at the message boards and
see that you are going to a few of the shows. Enjoy them all! I know you will! ~A
fellow fan!, Jessica
