The show was fantastic. This may turn into an epistle, so
i'll try to stay on track! John really struggled with his voice. you could tell he was
frustrated that he couldn't hit notes and had to sing quite a few songs in lower keys. I
was not aware until last week of his cancer, but having buried one of my best friends two
weeks ago ,aged 52,from the same, i was not surprised at his appearance. He's aged and
looked tired but he pulled it all off real well all things considered. The audience was
real supportive and you could tell it was pumping him up. sustained applause and standing
o's for classics had him smiling- he thanked us repeatedly for the response. I usually
just try to enjoy a show so didn't try to remember set list but I'll list what i remember.
came on stage about 9:00 and played til 10:45- these are not in order- Hello in there-sam
stone-paradise(encore)-donald and lydia-dear abby(by request)- fish and whistle-that's the
way the world goes 'round- souveniers--angel from Montgomery- linda goes to mars-it's a
big old goofy world- the sins of mephisto- you got gold-ain't hurtin nobody--lake
marie--I'm sure I've left out a fewmy 14 year-old Michael really enjoyed the show-he knows
most of the songs and sang along to many--music is my medicine so he's a veteran @ 14--in
the last 14 months he's seen John, jimmy buffett, allman brothers band, greg allman &
friends, little feat ,amazing rythm aces, kenny wayne sheppard--I only hope he takes me
along when i'm too old to get there on my own-if you're not already a fan you ought to
check out amazing rythm aces web site.finally after 17 years they're back together making
great music. Rusell Smith has a unique voice and writes with the best of them. enuogh
about other acts.Iheard about John when a lounge singer sang dear abby in early 70's gave
john credit for writing- went looking for more and was hooked for life-unbelievable
insight with better than buffett humor--Sat was my second chance to see him live- both @
peace center in fact I kept bugging owner of Horizon records a local promoter to bring
john to greenville two years ago I walked one Sat & he said you're gonna get your wish
John's playin in Oct. Truly a dream come true for me- Have really enjoyed the Prine Shrine
I visit every week and you do great job of bringing news to fans and allowing fans to get
to know others who enjoy John's music. keep up the good work-maybe we can share a show
somewhere down the road--one other note John did not have the ever present cigarette sat
night-hope that means he's laid em down! did not get into shrine discussion with seat
mates knew most of them as we got seats together-met some new friends in ticket line from
atlanta-said he kepps up via shrine-take heart your work is appreciated by fans! PEACE and
GOOD TUNES!

I wanted to let you know that I had a great time in Greenville at my first
Prine show. I met Crusher from the Shrine, he was nice but that didn't compare with the
other person i met! When we first got into Greenville we were driving around, just
checking out the town (beautiful town, by the way) one of my friends in the back seat
yells out, "There's John!!" We hit the breaks, illegally park and a few minutes
later, I am shaking John's hand. You were right! he is a very cool guy. i think he thought
we were a little crazy coming down from Ohio to see the show but he really didn't show it.
Overall, it was a great weekend, we met alot of cool people and saw an awesome show.
Thanks for the Shrine and keeping everyone informed, and for all of your help!! Talk to
you soon.

I had one of the top three most memorable moments of my life,
Saturday, ranking up there with getting married and a furture event in July. (baby) Seeing
John Prine walking out on the stage. This was my first John Prine experinece, and I was
wondering if it is normal to get a little emotional?!. We all did! I was relieved to know
I was'nt the only one. For me the kicker was Souveniers. I was choked up when he walked
out then teared up when he sang the song. UNREAL! "I've never felt like that
before".(J.P.) I'm getting chills just remembering and writing this. Unfortunately we
were unable to meet him but the show and the feeling he left us filled the void, but it
would have nice to tell him "Thank you". I told my buddies that I could finally
die a happy man. I can't tell you the reason for the emotions, I wish I could. I guess I
realized how much I appreciate him and his work. I don't know. This really was'nt a Prine
Story but it was an event I know will never leave me and will always call reference to and
cherish. John introduced Jason Wilber being from Bloomington, IN. I
work in Bloomington and live approx. 50 miles east. Also one of my buddy's last name is
Wilber. Weird huh? Also, really enjoyed R B Morris. Keep and eye on him. Thank you, Bye
