am Stone was alone when the bank called, his loan had been approved. He waited for Lydia to get back from the store, he was on the phone with Donald when Lydia walked in.

Sam and Lydia almost ran the 2 blocks to the bank, they signed all the papers and the bank manager gave Sam a $5000.00 cashiers check. Sam walked across the street to the lawyer and traded the check for the deed to Rudy's.

Upon getting home Lydia and Sam jumped into the car and headed over to their new future. Sam was singing about bicycle spokes and red balloons as he drove to the White Rose. Sam jumped out of the car and ran into the service station looking for Rudy.

Rudy was bent over a the fender of a pink Cadillac working on the engine, Sam coughed to get Rudy's attention. "Well Sam my Philadelphia lawyer phoned and said we have a done deal" bellowed Rudy, "you can move in tomorrow. One part of the deal I forgot to mention you get this pink Cadillac to drive till the owner comes to get it, he was some salesman from Austin, left it here to get new tires put on and never came back, that was 6 months ago. So you may drive a pink Cadillac."

Sam laughed and shook Rudy's hand. Sam and Lydia drove home in their new car and bolted upstairs to pack up all their stuff to move to their new home. Sam threw all the boxes in the back seat, after that they walked over to the bar, the Last Resort to celebrate.

Sam was up in the morning ready to work like a dog. After a coffee he woke Lydia and they drove to their new home and business. Lydia unpacked as Sam readied the gas station to open. Donald showed up at 7 and sorted out his tools on the work bench as Sam made them both a coffee. Sam's first customer pulled in about 8 am, it was Mrs. Tom Walker and her beautiful daughter, Pamela was driving the car. Sam sprinted over and took care of their needs. As he was putting the cash in the till from his first sale a young black kid was peeking though the dirty window.
"That's Billy the bum" said Donald. "Rudy says he hangs around looking for odd jobs to do."

Lydia walked over from the house with 2 fried egg sandwiches for the guys, when she saw Billy there, she introduced herself and put him to work turning the sod for her new garden.

"guess what Sam"
