Shakespeare was a big George Jones Fan - Jack Clement's Home MoviesSHAKESPEARE WAS A BIG GEORGE JONES FAN: COWBOY JACK CLEMEN'T'S HOME MOVIES - 2005- .... Himself

08/29/2006 - PBS broadcast is in the cards for later 2006 - Assembled by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon from the legendary Nashville producer/songwriter/musician/iconoclast’s home movies, at a mere 60 minutes, it’s way too short. Over the decades, Clement encouraged all the guests at his home studio to relax, clown around and just simply be themselves, and this edited collection of clips shows the illustrious likes of Jones, Johnny Cash, John Prine, Waylon Jennings, Bono and a whole host of others do just that. It also contains some surreal touches, including animated sequences of Clement discussing the meaning of art and life with “close friend” Shakespeare. Plus, Clement’s own music is downright charming—he’s a Nashville cat who loves to samba.

DESIRE/THE FACES OF TENNCARE
Winner of 2005 ’s Reel Current Award, given by former Vice President Al Gore, this 13 minute documentary is about the lives and dreams of several teenage girls in New Orleans shamelessly promotes itself as some kind of Katrina tie-in, but it could have been filmed anywhere. Over a five-year period, filmmaker Julie Gustafson interviews five girls of different race and class about sex, love, college, careers and pregnancy, and assigns them cameras for their own video diaries. The result is surprisingly complex and poignant, not only in how much these separate lives overlap, but in the simplicity and honesty with which these young people envision their own ideals and dreams for their futures. The film is preceded by Nashville filmmaker Molly Secours’ “The Faces of TennCare,” which recasts Tennessee’s health-care crisis in stark human terms with the help of photojournalist Joon Powell, narrator Minton Sparks and musicians Maura O’Connell, John Prine and Steve Conn.
