I got my lost dog at Hobo's Tattoo Shop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
It was the end of August, 2009 - right after my 30th birthday and losing our 12 year old lab, Willie.
I had decided years before that if I ever got a tattoo it would be a lost dog, and the timing just seemed perfectly appropriate.
John Prine has always been my absolute favorite musician, thanks to my Dad and the rest of my family being pretty hardcore fans for my entire life.
It seemed like an obvious choice - on the one hand, it's an homage to the man himself, Mr. John Prine.
On the other hand, it's a tribute to all the dogs I have loved and lost.
