WOGSTOCK REVUE
- by A very sincere friend
~ KATHRYN CARROLL aka Kathy47
DAY 1
Upon arriving in New Castle Ind., my hubby decided to stay at
the motel a 12 hr. drive he was exhausted. So Tom left the first Wogstock introduction to
moi.
The directions given to us by WOG made it very easy to find his homestead.
The overwhelming anticipation of meeting all my cyberfriends was almost unbearable. I was
more than excited!
With exuberance I arrived at Wog's front door, with a humorous message for a
Barry Manilow gathering, I knew I had the right place. Through the door I could see people
everywhere and of course Reeda came running as her wild red hair was flying through the
air. Reeda's excitement didn't have to be announced, you'd think the floor was a
trampoline by the way she bounced.
So I finally go to put a face to the words that are shared every Monday, this
was probably the ultimate thrill! Wog took me to introduce me to everyone I was so
flabbergasted that my mind turned to mush. I should have been able to put a name with a
face, but at this point I didn't know my own name.
I hugged everyone, I was so excited I talked on and on. Sorry to all of you
that listened to me, it's just something I do when I'm nervous.
DAY 2
Once in the chat room I complained about my experience with boiled peanuts. And wouldn't
ya know it I had to retract what I had said! Nutt brought some that he had made, they were
very different than the ones I had down south, Nutt's were scrumptious!
Everyone began primping and preening as they were going to a ball, preparing
for the delectable John Prine Concert. We all popped into our cars and followed the wise
old geezer, we were a caravan of raving lunatic John Prine Fans! I'm sure with all the
excitement we all felt, I'm almost positive our cars left an aura of haze behind our cars
as we played follow the leader.
Dressed in our WOGSTOCK TEES we all sat patiently for the grand entrance of a
truly loved man, MR. PRINE. His stage manner has changed from shows I seen before, I think
that maybe he has induced some of Jason's youth serum. This certainly isn't the man I used
to know, I mean get down, boogie! Moving all over the stage those legs are just a goin. Of
course I enjoyed the show as well as everyone else. I don''t feel it was the best show
I've ever seen, it certainly was worth the trip just to meet all the chat room friends.
Johns concert was all his best, I feel it was the acoustics with a
combination of the forthcoming weather, all in all it didn't put a damper on the show.
John and the boys gave it there all, so what more could anyone ask.
The weather was brewing in the distance was lightening and a mute sound of
thunder, I kept my fingers crossed hoping it would detain itself until it was time for us
to go home, but of course the weather didn't oblige my wishes.
All of the chat room buddies sat eagerly to go behind stage, Reeda sat
impatiently with part 2 of the shrine and the tape of WELCOME TO WOGSTOCK. Needless to say
the weather didn't accommodate Reeda or any other anxious Prine fan. A security guard came
forward, Reeda handed him the papers and the tape, as I looked at her I saw a face that
was morose.
I felt so bad that so many people gathered from all over the U.S.A. and to
see the look of dismay in there eyes, when we found out that the weather put a damper on
everything. If I could have given any one person one of my trips backstage, I
certainly would have. My heart truly goes out to anyone person that never had the
opportunity to meet Mr. Prine.
Although the greatest event of the whole trip was meeting all the people,
whom I have grown attached to within our Monday Chats.
So if there is another WOGSTOCK 2 I will be there without a doubt! Even if
there isn't a Prine Concert to attend, I'd be amongst people I consider friends!
And to the wise old geezer, thanks tremendously for all your effort, your
sincere friendliness, and your lovely home. You are a very special, special (that's
right twice) person that I shall never forget and I'm certainly glad that we have had the
chance to meet and become friends. Thanks so very much WOG, from the bottom of my heart
and I'm sure that the rest of the Prine Shriners feel the same!
I didn't forget you Reeda, thanks for all your devoted work to make the
shrine what is today.
I feel like I'm thanking everyone as though I received a grammy or something.
But I'll tell ya what meeting all you guys was better than any award someone could
receive!!!!!!!!!
