02/23/2005 - Billboard - Crowell Celebrates
'Outsider' Status On New CD - Though it's due June 7 from Sony Nashville,
"The Outsider" is anything but a country album. The artist
relies on a large cast of talented collaborators to flesh out the 10
original songs and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Shelter From the Storm."
The list of guest vocalists alone reads like a "who's who"
of Nashville iconoclasts, including with Emmylou Harris, John Prine,
Beth Nielsen Chapman, Buddy & Julie Miller and J.D. Souther. read

02/14/2005 - Washington DC - John Prine Joins Poet Laureate
Ted Kooser - 1st Singer/Songwriter To Read/Play at Library of Congress
March 9 - "I've been asked to do a lot of things,"
says Prine with a big smile, "but this is definitely a first. And
I don't even know how to quite respond to it. For a guy who carried
mail, was in the service, did so-so in school, this is kind of beyond
the stuff I usually think about. It's the kind of honor that's beyond.
So, you can bet I'm looking forward to it - taking all these people
in my songs to the Library of Congress and letting 'em look around a
little bit. It should be great, and an honor, and everything else."

02/13/2005 Los Angeles -- Song Of America --Among the
artists pushing a new album at the Grammys will be someone who seems
out of place: Janet Reno. The former attorney general will attend the
Grammys with producer David Macias to publicize their album "Song
of America." Don't worry, Reno doesn't sing on it. Among the artists
who do are Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, Mavis Staples, John Prine and
Alison Krauss. It traces the history of the US through music, from 1620
to the present. It was Reno's idea. Profits will go to folk music education.
