With Leon Redbone Opening
Madison WI - The trip there--- March 26, 2004

I love these towns and made all sorts of semi plans to do stuff while visiting, but, as always, the best laid plans tend to wrinkle up. We just really wanted to get away - to the other side of town as it were and hadn't even made it to the first stoplight when I snapped my  coffee cup lid shut and spattered brown spots on my new white Prine tee shirt. Terry offered to turn back so I could change, but I reeeeaaaallllly wanted to get the hell out of Dodge and urged him on. Moments later I finished up the coffee (and my tee shirt) down my neck. Brilliant husband suggests that I just dye the shirt with coffee and no one will know. I am now in the process of dying all my light shirts with my favorite stains. 

We switched cars in Sterling and rode with Lyla Luluwalls to Madison. I won't even go into the many antiques or lady head vases she has adorning her house. Jiggling down the road through construction zones, I wondered if we would survive this adventure..."I guess I should have taken the car in and had it looked at, says Lyla, (insert nervous laughs here) - I just liked riding the back seat as she did the "co navigating" and he couldn't state how bad I was at it...but he did, of course, "That was easy, Lyla, boy Reeda is the woooooorrrrsstttt co-navigator"

See, Terry usually thinks if there is a plan to go somewhere that there really is a plan. So he likes to get there on time, or a few minutes early. He'll be fashionably late, but only if we planned on being late. There are a lot of people like that in the world - I waiver on the edge of both and he's staunchly upright in the on time corner. 

Nevermind that - back to the Preamble to Prine - 

Lyla got Terry right to the hotel and we got checked in - in to our rooms. We hooked up with Shane and were off to town to explore.

We found Frida's - with 180 different types of tequila - Terry and Shane were done exploring as Lyla-Luluwalls and I wandered in and out of the eclectic shops, homeless people napping, and that one big mouthed loud guy, I think he was singing. I love Madison's downtown. We met up with a whole circle of folks in front of Frida's - they must know each other from the internet -  as they introduced themselves, I introduced myself (they didn't know any better)...and of course, they noticed my fresh Prine tee shirt and were all meeting up for dinner before the concert. So Hey! Hello in there to you's guys from Frida's!

A few more beers, margaritas and shots of tequila, we met up with Crusher, Eddy, Elliott, Rich, Julie, Sue, Kathy47, Thom, Jim S., his wife and sister at the hotel- like we all arrived in the lobby at the same time. Kathy had already been downtown and saw that Eric was back and wanted to watch my face as I got excited about it (I got all excited about it too). It was just like old home week in that lobby - from states that covered, IA, IL, WI, MI, and VT

It was nearly concert time and were raring' to go... we headed to the venue but had to pass by Frida's to get there, and lost some of the boys....after some choice sign language through the windows, we left the boys....
