Blowout...as someone in the audience stated "the mandolin player rocks". The acoustics were much better at Ovens than they were in the Asheville Civic Center. I have listening and following Prine since I heard him back in the 70's at Virginia Beach. His humility and lyrics keep me coming back for more of the words and world I relate to.

I was expecting the old, crusty, story-telling John Prine that I already loved. But, to my surprise, it was a new, mellow, finely tuned Prine with a new outlook and spirit. My favorites of the night were, "I'm taking a walk"," Gold in You", "She's my everything", "Long Monday" and my all time favs, "Angel from Montgomery" and "All the Best". John's musicians had a great time and the "pickin" was fabulous. I could have sat through the entire concert again. Don't miss this, no matter how far you have to drive. J. John Prine's 2/10 concert in Charlotte was superb! It's rare when I find myself as absorbed in an artist's new songs as the old favorites, but I was last night. John still paints a vivid picture / tells an unforgettable story in every song. My husband and I also were amazed by the musicianship of his 'organization.' We also really enjoyed the fact that the Charlotte audience was so in tune. I didn't think there were that many liberal(?) old boomers here in business-central, USA. Thanks for the music, John!

I didn't know much about John Prine until I saw him on Austin City Limits last year. Then, I saw he was going to be in concert locally. I must say it was the best 48 bucks I have spent in a long time. The concert was 2 hours of non-stop perfection by 4 equally and very talented musicians. John Prine is not only a extremely talented musician but equally talented as a poet. By the way, congrats to John on his Grammy!!
