hey this is the mike guy, DARN I thought everyone came to hear me yell out WELCOME BACK JOHN!..no? well I'm really sorry If I ruined somebodies evening...
heck Ive followed Prine since 1979 been to all the shows in Des Moines and Ames,
Maybe Im wrong or something but Ive noticed that every Prine concert that Ive been to the audience always got into the show.....Come on lighten up
I dont think John Prine would ever enjoy playin for a crowd of tight-assed politicly correct clap only when expected people! If I remember right John was rocking his ass off at that concert!!! Do you think his show would of been the same that night if everyone one just sat and clapped when expected? I dont think so..
John started off great, he connected with his audience in a huge way, we responded in kind, then he took us all to a special place!!! This was his finest concert as far as Im concerned!!!!!

Great Concert. I have seen John Prine quite a few times over the last 30 or so years - this may have been the best I have seen him. Voice was surprisingly in great shape.
Oh, by the way, the Mike-guy who is so proud of himself for yelling "Welcome Back John" - you may be disappointed to find out that we didn't go to the concert to hear you.

Just when you think you saw the finest in a live performance, John somehow reaches deep into himself pulls out his heart for all of us to feel and hear, Ive been following john since 1979 and this I think was his finest show!!!! and I though his last one 2 years ago was great at the civic center... Iris was an absolute a treat to see and hear, she put on a great show I really like her duet with John on "In spite of ourselves" Oh by the way Im the guy that yelled "Welcome back John!", after I said that a guy said "he never left'' How true I thought. . . I looked up while I said welcome back..and I'll be damned if he didnt look at me and give me a nod! oh yeah Tim thanks for the ticket . . . 5 row left of dead center PERFECT!!! boy did I luck out . . . Cant wait for the next time around!!!

PRINE, DEMENT HIT HOYT
John Prine and Iris DeMent will perform Aug. 26 at Hoyt Sherman Theater in Des Moines. Tickets cost $57 or $47 and go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster - a departure for the historic venue that had been a home to Des Moines-based ticketing firm IowaTix. Hoyt Sherman became a Ticketmaster venue this week, after Ames-based Compass Facilities Management was hired last week to run the theater.
Incidentally, don't expect DeMent's husband, Iowa folk singer Greg Brown, to drop by this gig. He has his own show Aug. 26 at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City.
