I
had a vintage designer dress that I had been promising to bring to Iris
for a year and I finally did that... you know, she is really a tiny
thing, I had never stood nose to nose with her, she had always been
on stage, seated, or in a big pair of platform shoes. Turns out the
dress was as too big on her as it was on me. I hope her friend could
make some good use of it... it was really an awesome blue dress (would
have brought out her red hair and blue eyes) Shoot, If I had realized
she was that tiny... I could have had it perfectly altered for her.
Live and learn.
It was wonderful, our own little private concert.... since
our seats for the night were going to be as far away as you could get,
I am thankful for the chance meeting in the street with John and his
graciousness of inviting us in.
We left them at the Hall and wandered around Lincoln for
a bit, had a few beers and a meal, then went back to watch the vast
array of Prine fans gather at the doors. There were children, bikers,
young to original hippies, yippies, yuppies, yahoos, in suits, leather,
tattoos, and jeans. It is always such a treat to 'people watch' a Prine
show... such a variety with a common like - no matter their age or decoration,
they all were alike when it came to saying hello in there or having
dirt in their shoes. Comfortable, I guess that is what you would call
it.
We headed into the venue, and all the way up to the top
floor bar, and headed out to the balcony where the smoke cloud crowd
was. It was there that I ran into a couple of "old friends"
Deb and Rod Chambers from the Ames Iowa show. If I had planned this trip
I would have contacted them since they were natives of Lincoln and we
would have had a real gathering.
