As
always, he left us feeling like like he was done but we weren't...
I mean, we know he has a lot more songs and we hadn't heard
them all. Just once, I'd like to hear him do his last encore, look
out at the crowd and say "Aw, heck, I don't have any plans tonight,
lets do 'em all!"
After reading the other reviews of people being worried
about John's voice and his health, I just had to find out and see
for myself. I want you all to know...Get used to it... the man beat
the big C, they whacked out half of his neck, he WILL get hoarse,
just a little water and he is better. He worked and suffered for that
battle scar, don't deny him. His singing voice sounds better than
it has in years... he's hitting notes that I don't know if he has
ever hit before
(on tippy toes or not). All is all right in the Prine world!
On a side note, I have always been curious about the
buttons on his electric guitar strap. Now I know, One is of Elvis and
Nixon (the larger one) and the other is a Grateful Dead button. What? Old
Johnny's a Deadhead? Well, not exactly... it turns out that his
"new" electric guitar is really his little big brother's guitar.
(ah, now it all makes sense) - it's a brother thing.
Life
is good folks, and it is true... Cotton's son Johnny is better than
ever. Those stories that some of us are so familiar with sound brand
new and fresh. For the novice a real treat and the old timer still
chortles as hard as if it were the new. For those of us with a hole
in our soul... his show is the putty that fills it, leaves us like
addicts, always wanting more, and as Martha Stewart says "That's
a good thing".
