Edmonton folk fest winning praise 
  Martha Wainwright ready for folk fest 
  EDMONTON - Singer John Prine says that the Edmonton Folk Music Festival is the best folk festival ever. 
  Aw, shucks, he probably says that to all the festivals. 
  He shoots back, "No, really! For my money, it's the best one going. I really think that. I was telling somebody a little bit ago, I told them how much fun we used to have at Mariposa ... but times change and now the going festival is Edmonton. It's got the best feel and it gets a great range of different performers. I don't say it to all the folk festivals. I wish I could." 
  You'll hear the boast a lot this weekend at Gallagher Park, where the fest opens tonight - and not just from producer Terry Wickham. When someone like John Prine says it, it behooves us to pay attention. As folk heroes go, you don't get much bigger than this guy without bringing Woody Guthrie back from the dead. Prine closes the folk fest on Sunday night. He may praise us again and give us all a big head. Gosh, maybe we are the best.
