What a show!!!!! My wife and I heard about John Prine in college in the 70's. We had listened to him over the years but had not been
fortunate enough to be able to see him in concert. We drove almost 4 hours to see him and we did not come away disappointed. We thought that the 4 Rivers Center was beautiful place and a great place to watch John Prine. He played all the songs that we wanted him to play(well we would have liked to hear him play
Illegal Smile). Loved listening to him and the over 2 hours that he played was not long enough. We almost drove to Nashville the next day to hear him again!!!!!!

John was on as usual. Great crowd - very into the music. The drunk next to me spent half the night throwing up, oh well, some people are less fortunate. Kudos to the turn around of downtown Paducah and the creation of Four Centers. They should be very proud.

What a great night. The last time I saw John in concert was about 20 years ago in Evansville Indiana. I think that this was better! I could not have asked for anything else from this great performer. It was like a best of show with great new tunes mixed in. At the beginning I thought that his voice crackled a bit but as the show continued I thought he got more powerful. I know that my wife and I had a great time and still have all of those great songs spinning in our heads. Thank you John for a wonderful evening!

John played the recently opened Four Rivers Theater in Paducah last night, and the show was a mirror image of several of the above with the same set list. I hadn't seen him since the mid '90's on the Lost Dogs/Mixed Blessings tour. His voice has gotten more gravelly, but it is just as powerful as ever. His guitar playing was as simple and arresting as ever. The whole night was practically a sing along and John led the audience through two and a half hours of his classic tunes. The new songs were just as powerful as the old ones, and the old ones seemed to take on new life at times and were as relevant or more so than ever. Jason
Wilber and David Jacques rocked and John seemed to be having a good time. This was one of the "talkiest" crowds I have been around and people at times were in competition to tell John how much they loved him - even the dudes. John maintained a supreme cool throughout. Of course, when he sang "Paradise", and got to the line, "...western Kentucky..." , the audience roared and that was just one more roar of approval this Kentucky audience gave their hero. Leon Redbone opened the show in this cozy, new auditorium, and whetted the
appetites of the audience members in his usual quirky old time style. I was with people who hadn't even heard of John Prine if you can believe it, and they came away just as entertained as I. This was a very fun experience. Like most of the audience, I feel John Prine is a musical hero, and was so thrilled to see him another time.

What can I say. John Prine rules and always will. I have been listening to
him for about 30 years and this year was especially exciting for me as the
concert was on my birthday - May 15th. His set, as always, was awesome and
I can never, ever hear enough of John. It took several years for me to get
my husband to go to one of John's concerts (he said he sounded like some
old drunk). But, about 10 years ago, I finally dragged him to a concert at
the same place in Kentucky and he has been hooked ever since. He went out
and bought all of John's music and when we go on a long trip, the
"Prine" must be with us at all times. His voice was a little
raspy, but I just thought that made his songs sound even better. I can't
wait for the new CD to come out because they played a couple songs from
the CD and they are great! I tried to get my tee shirt signed by John
since it was my birthday, but of course, security wouldn't even let me
near him. I hung around at the back of the theater trying to beg for an
autograph, a picture, a smack in the head - anything! But, security was
tight and all I came away with that night was the wonderful sounds and
memories of all the songs and concerts I've shared with John. I had an
extra ticket to take my sister to the concert with me and my husband, but
due to illness, she couldn't make it. So, needless to say, I've got
another convert. I took a friend of mine who had only heard one or two of
John's songs and "just didn't get it", until she sat through all
2 1/2 wonderful hours of John and now she wants all of his CDs. The venue
in Ashland is wonderful because it only seats about 1,500 people, so
there's not a bad seat in the house (we had great seats - 4 rows back),
but everybody got a good shot of John that night. We can't wait until he
comes our way again.

Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez were great and really got the show off to
a good start. It was my first Prine concert and I am looking forward to
seeing him in concert again! He played several more songs than I thought
he would, I really enjoyed it when John picked up the electric guitar for
a few songs. He did a great job a mixing the old with the new. He even
told a few stories. It will become a "picture show" in my mind
for the rest of my life! Several of us waited for a while to see if we
could meet Prine, but we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. I did
get to meet Jason Wilber, he is a very talented musician and a great
person, from what I could tell!

I'll start by reviewing Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez. I had never
heard of Carrie Rodriguez, but man was she wonderful. I was truly
mesmerized by her beautiful voice and whimsical fiddle playing. On the
other hand, I don't understand why she plays with Chip Taylor. I don't
know, I just don't like him. I especially didn't like the fact that he
found it necessary to make everyone know about all the songs he wrote and
what their sales were. Carrie Rodriguez should dump this Taylor guy IMHO.
Prine was amazing. I've never been to a Prine show and I wasn't expecting
his band to be so good. The acoustics at that place were great. I don't
know what else to say about Prine except that he exceeded all of my
expectations. I'm so glad I made the drive. The show was truly
inspirational. I wonder why he didn't play "Illegal Smile"? If I
have a favorite Prine song, that's it. I'd go see him anytime and I hope
to be able to turn others on to him

My wife, my nine year old daughter and I were blessed to be able to make
the three and half hour drive from Virginia to see one of the the greatest
singer-songwriters that will ever set foot on a stage. We were not
disappointed! John and company put on a fantastic show in a truly vintage
venue, The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland KY. I love the acoustics of
these old theaters. He sounded great, with so much energy. The whole place
just moved to the lyrics of each wonderful song. That's what I love about
John's music, the wonderful thought and meaning to the lyrics of his
music. I am a long time fan but this was our first concert. What a show,
it won't be our last. After a great performance by the underrated duo of
Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, JP played for close to two and half
hours, as he put it "We haven't been to Ashland in a long time, I
think we'll stay awhile." What a wonderful show! My daughter
especially liked Sweet Revenge or as she likes to call it "the Noah's
Ark song" As I said, she is only nine but knows many of John's songs
because of her father's vast CD collection. I saw some other younger Prine
fans there as well. I'm glad John's music is reaching them as well as
opposed to the garbage being labeled as music that is put out these days.
All in all a truly wonderful concert experience, I wish he could
have played all night!!!

I have long been a Prine fan, thanks to my father, and this was the third
concert I have been fortunate enough to attend. It was by far one of my
most favorites, he sang a lot of old stuff that I had never heard him do
live and it was awesome. Attending this concert was the perfect ending to
a horrible week. My brother and I had tickets for the Saturday night
concert, but on Tuesday of that week our father passed away. We held his
memorial service on Friday and debated about the concert, but my brother
felt we should go, sort of as a tribute to our dad, who was such a huge
Prine fan...Well, the most spectacular part was the Mr. Prine dedicated
his encore song to our father and I was even fortunate enough to meet him
after the concert. Let me tell you, he is one sincere man! Thanks John for
doing what you do!!!!

him to sign a shirt and my ticket stub!!! He was awesome that
night!!!!!!!!!

My 26th Prine viewing over the years and he just keeps getting better and
better. The only negative is they wouldn't let my dog in (he had a
ticket). John, Dave and Jason were ON. Very enjoyable time that was had by
all. Thank you John.
